Taizé Prayer at Newman
Taizé, an ecumenical form of meditative prayer, originated in the French village, Taizé. During the prayer service, we sing short Taizé chants as a form of meditation. We sing in English and other languages. During the school year we are often accompanied by a musician, usually a pianist or guitarist. In addition to the chants, there are readings, prayer intercessions, periods of silence, and an opportunity to venerate the cross.
Taizé lasts for about an hour and is a wonderful way to experience a peaceful, calming, and spiritually uplifting time of prayer. All are welcome. No prior experience is necessary!
Current, the Newman Hall Taizé ministry is on hiatus as we build a new ministry team. If you are interested in serving as a musician, vocalist or team member, we would love to have you join us! Contact Email Michelle
Thank you for your patience!
In the meantime, please join the Taize group at Mary Magdalen. They meet monthly. They are however taking August off, so the next gathering is October 2, Feast of the Guardian Angels, at 3:00pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
