Annual Paulist Appeal
Our Annual Paulist Appeal allows benefactors to support the mission of the Paulist Fathers. We are an American men’s religious order, founded by Servant of God Isaac Hecker to evangelize the United States. Our founder, in the mid-1800’s, felt the spirit of America was ripe for tapping into the excellence and energy of the Catholic faith.
Today with the rise of folks having no religious affiliation, with most of them coming from folks who have abandoned their religious upbringing, now is a great need to bring the Good News to our great nation. With the rise in apathy, polarization, depression, fear, and stuck at the bottom feeling, we need the liberating power and joyful inspiration of the Good News of Jesus Christ. From our beginning the Paulists have been forging new ways from maintenance to mission. Our founder was fearful, even from the beginning, that if we took on too many parishes that we would forget our missionary calling and zeal.
Your financial support helps us support our missionary efforts like Busted Halo and reconciliation, educate our seminarians like Eric and Chris, and take care of our senior Paulists like Fr. Ken and Fr. Steve.
Thanks to Fr. Michael McGarry, CSP, who preached our annual Paulist Appeal this year. Fr. Michael was pastor at Newman from 1993 to 1999. He is currently on sabbatical and based in Boston, MA.
