Used Smartphone/Tablet Drive
for Odobate, Panama
Get a new smartphone or tablet from Santa? Have a used smartphone in your home gathering dust? Here’s an opportunity to put it to good use to benefit the education of children in Odobate, a rural indigenous village in Panama where the majority of people live in extreme poverty. The pandemic has resulted in all schooling being conducted virtually, which is a huge challenge considering that most people don’t have access to technology and WiFi was just installed in the village. Newman Grads have teamed up with a local teacher who will distribute the phones equitably to families in need and incorporate them into his lesson plans.
