Newman has been a welcoming place for generations of Cal students, faculty and staff and for the wider Bay Community. A rabbi friend of mine years ago spoke of a welcoming place as one where you can learn and speak the names of others you meet and hear your own name spoken with love. I hope you can find that welcome here in our prayer together at Mass, in any number of prayer/meditation groups, in study and learning together-especially as that “together” includes the stimulating academic world of Berkeley and how one’s Catholic faith enriches the university and is enriched by that world. There are lots of opportunities for helping others and in that helping to discover how much we receive from those we help. Thank you for being with us. You make us better people and better Christians!
