Who is Christian Meditation for?
Anyone, beginner or advanced interested in Christian meditation practice. Non-parishioners welcome. No prior notice required.
When are the Christian Meditation meetings? What do they do at these meetings?
The group meets every Monday night, all holidays included, at 7:30 pm in the Imogene Simpson Room (Seminar Room), first floor of Newman Hall. The session is open on a drop in basis.
Practice this ancient tradition of contemplative prayer which seeks silence and stillness – beyond word and thought. The weekly 45 minute session includes a brief recorded introductory talk by Fr. Laurence Freeman, Fr. John Main or others, instruction on how to meditate, a 25 minute period of silent meditation, followed by an opportunity to ask questions. The session concludes with the Lord’s Prayer.
Our meditation group follows a format developed by the World Community for Christian Meditation. Their website, www.wccm.org has a wealth of information about meditation including downloadable podcasts.
