Eucharistic Ministry

Eucharistic Ministers

For many years now, Holy Spirit Parish has invited confirmed women and men to become ministers of Holy Communion.

Above are pictures from the 9:30 a.m. Sunday mass.  On the right and left respectively, Therese and J.C. share the body and blood of Christ with parishioners.  In the center, ministers of Holy Communion stand around Father Edens during the communion rite.

Training classes are usually held in fall and spring.   Interested parishioners attend four 90 minute sessions.  There is a small amount of reading following each of the sessions.

Session One:  A study and discussion of “ministry.”

Session Two:  A presentation by one of the Paulist fathers on “The History of the Eucharist.”

Session Three:  The specifics of the ministry (i.e. how to sign-up, the stations at each of the weekend masses).  Below,  participants practice the techniques of how to share the sacraments with parishioners.

Session Four:  A study and discussion of “spirituality” and the commissioning rite.  Below, Father Al Moser conducts part of the commissioning rite with a new minister.

If you are interested in becoming a minister of Holy Communion, complete an application form at the front desk and leave it for Gary Addiego.  Send questions to Gary at the following email address: gandjaddiego@sbcglobal.net.
