On March 1st, George Greiner, SJ, Newman parishioner and Professor at the Jesuit School of Theology, will present three essentials of our Catholic Tradition that need to be handed on to younger generations. Participants will then be invited to discuss George’s proposal.

The conversation will continue on March 15th when Jean Molesky-Poz, Newman parishioner and Theology Lecturer at Santa Clara University, will present on “Recovering Spiritual Traditions.” Jean will treat some of the practices of Catholicism that need to be passed on and invite us to continue dialoguing on the matter.

Both presentations and the conversations that will follow will surely enrich us!

The Newman Student LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transexual and Queer) Group provides a safe space for students to explore their faith and sexuality. We support students who perhaps have asked God in their prayers, why did You create me this way? What would my parents think? Can I still be Catholic being who I am? As a group we open our minds and our hearts and share our own journeys in answering some of those questions. We hope to develop our own rhetoric of what homosexuality is as we grow together as people and also in our faith.

When do we meet?
We meet every other Wednesday from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Seminar Room.

journey discussing her work on the evolution of consciousness and how the development of consciousness shapes the contours of our spiritual path, and help us to see how we can apply these principles to our own spiritual development. Helen is a member of our parish and a core faculty member at the GTU’s School of Applied Theology. Coffee and tea will be available; bring a pastry to share if you can, and feel free to bring a friend. February 18th from 9 am—12 pm in the Lounge.
