Who is “Science and Faith” for?
Anyone from any background or age interested in the relationship of science and Christian faith.
When does “Science and Faith” meet? What do they do?
Science and Faith meets roughly once a month during the academic year from 7:30 pm to 9 pm at Newman Hall.
The Science and Faith Group brings in UC Berkeley and Graduate Theological Union professors to provide their insight into the connections of “science and faith.” These talks, followed by a group discussion, involve professors’ personal experiences of faith in their research or focus on specific current topics such as stem cells, evolution, or cosmology.
Upcoming Events:
Science and Faith: How Should a Faithful Person Respond to Evidence? Join us Wednesday, April 18th at 7:30 p.m. for a presentation by Dr. Lara Buchak, a Berkeley Professor of Philosophy. Dr. Buchak teaches a course on “Science and Faith” and is currently researching what faith is and the rationality of faith. She will explore these topics and in particular focus on the relationship among faith, belief, and evidence. She will seek to provide an analysis of what it means to have faith, both in the religious and the mundane sense. Please join us for the last science and faith event of the semester!
