Planning for the Future

In February 2011 Newman hosted Petrus Associates of Austin, Texas, who have worked closely with several campus ministries around the country. About 25 Newman people participated in the conference. As a result of that meeting two areas were chosen for closer attention. Those areas were Ministries and Development. The conversation continues in the community this year around both areas in order that Newman may continue for many years to be a welcoming and challenging place for University and Bay Area people.

Parish Council

The council is composed of 11 members of Newman. Two are appointed by the Student Ministry Team and the nine others are chosen from the community to serve for a three year term. At their monthly meetings, usually the second Tuesday of the months September through June, the council discusses the various ministries of Newman, its financial situation, and does address the needs and concerns of the community. This Web Site is the result of patient and thoughtful involvement of the council. Council meetings are open to all members of the community.

Parish Financial Committee

This committee is chosen by the pastor to advise him in all matters related to the financial life of the community. It exercises critical oversight of the budget and the values that underscore the budgeting process. The committee meets at the call of the pastor, usually four to five times a year.
