Information on Faith Formation for Children and Teens, our RCIA program, Homecoming, and Adult Confirmation. The Liturgy (Greek for 'work of the people') is central to our life at Newman. It is the "summit toward which our activity is directed, and the source from which all power flows." - from the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. Our Loaves and Fishes program is an outreach to the poor and homeless in the Berkeley-Oakland area. Our monthly activities include a community dinner on the first Saturday of each month and food programs at the Men's & Women's Shelters in Berkeley. Throughout the year we conduct special drives for canned food, school supplies, baby items, and sundries. The Newman Social Service Working Group is a resource/information source for those wanting to do social service work through our Newman community. One of the great resources for our personal and communal growth is making a retreat and we are blessed in this area with many retreat houses that offer private or directed retreats on many topics.
